Terms of Service
Last updated: July 25, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of KifiyaCheck ("the Service"), a payment-verification and cash-sale-logging platform for merchants. By creating an account, joining a business as staff, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What the Service does
KifiyaCheck lets a business check whether a customer's digital payment (currently CBE or Telebirr) is genuine, unused, and paid into one of that business's own registered accounts, and lets staff log cash sales that have no digital receipt. Verification works by checking the payment provider's own publicly accessible receipt information at the moment of the check - see Section 8 for important limits on what that can and can't guarantee.
2. Accounts, roles, and staff invites
- Each business has exactly one owner and, on paid plans, may invite staff. An owner is responsible for the accuracy of their business information and for the conduct of the staff they invite.
- Staff invite links are meant only for the person you intend to invite. Sharing a standing invite link more widely (e.g. printed and posted publicly) is your choice as the owner, but you are responsible for who joins your business as a result.
- One phone number, email, Google account, or Telegram account may only be tied to one role at one business at a time. You must provide accurate contact information, and you are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential.
- An owner may deactivate or remove staff at any time. A staff member may remove their own account at any time. Removing the owner requires deleting the entire business - see Section 7.
3. Subscription plans, billing, and payment
- The Basic plan is free. Pro and Premium are paid plans, billed on the cycle you choose (monthly, quarterly, half-year, or yearly). Some plans may offer a one-time free trial, limited to once per merchant identity - attempting to claim more than one trial by re-registering under a different business name is a violation of these Terms.
- Subscription payments must be made in the exact amount specified for the plan and billing cycle you are subscribing to, and only using the payment method(s) and receiving account(s) that KifiyaCheck provides for that purpose. A payment for the wrong amount, sent to an account other than the one provided, or sent for a different plan or cycle than the one selected may be rejected and will not be applied to your subscription. We do not automatically reconcile mismatched payments.
- All payments to KifiyaCheck - subscription payments and any other charge - are final. We do not offer refunds, whether for partial use of a billing period, downgrading, cancelling, or a business closing. Please choose your plan and billing cycle carefully before paying.
- If your subscription lapses (expires without renewal), some actions are temporarily restricted until you renew or move back to the Basic plan, but your current plan's benefits (including its data-retention window) continue to apply until you actually change plans.
- Moving back to the Basic plan (whether by your own choice or after a lapsed subscription) may deactivate staff accounts or payment methods beyond what Basic allows, and will reduce how much transaction history is retained going forward. See our Privacy Policy for retention details.
4. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate business, payment-account, and contact information.
- Keep your registered payment accounts (e.g. your CBE/Telebirr account numbers) accurate and up to date - verification only succeeds against accounts you have correctly registered.
- Use the verification result as one input to your own judgment, not as an absolute guarantee - see Section 8. You remain responsible for your business's decision to release goods or services against a payment.
- Do not submit fraudulent, altered, or someone else's payment receipts as your own.
- Do not attempt to bypass daily usage limits, plan restrictions, rate limits, or account security measures.
- Do not use the Service for money laundering, fraud, or any illegal transaction.
- Do not share your login credentials, or attempt to access another business's account or data.
- Do not reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to disrupt the Service.
5. Fair use & plan limits
Each plan has a daily limit on combined verifications and cash-log entries, a limit on staff seats and registered payment accounts, and a transaction-history retention window, as shown in the app. We may adjust these limits, add or change plans, or change pricing for future billing periods; we will not change the price of a period you have already paid for.
6. Feedback & support
If you report an issue or send feedback through the app, you agree we may use it to improve the Service. We aim to respond to reports but do not guarantee a specific response time.
7. Suspension & termination
- We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms - including submitting fraudulent receipts, abusing the trial system, attempting to bypass plan limits, or using the Service for illegal purposes.
- An owner may permanently delete their business at any time from Settings. This is irreversible and deletes the business's staff accounts, transactions, and subscription history, as described in our Privacy Policy. Payment proofs already submitted for past billing are retained for our own financial records and are not affected by this deletion, and are not refunded (see Section 3).
- A business on the free Basic plan with no activity for 30 days or more will be automatically and permanently deleted, the same as if the owner had deleted it themselves. This does not apply to Pro or Premium businesses regardless of activity.
8. No guarantee over third-party banks & telecom providers
Payment verification depends entirely on the payment provider's (currently CBE's or Telebirr's) own publicly accessible receipt system being available and returning accurate information at the moment you check. KifiyaCheck does not control, does not have a business relationship or privileged access with, and cannot guarantee the uptime, accuracy, rate limits, or continued public accessibility of any bank's or telecom operator's systems. These providers may restrict, throttle, change the format of, or block access to their public receipt pages at any time, for any reason, without notice to us or to you. If that happens, verification may fail, be delayed, or return incomplete information through no fault of KifiyaCheck, and we are not liable for any loss arising from it. If you cannot verify a payment through the Service, you remain responsible for confirming it through another means before proceeding with a sale.
9. No guarantee against fraud
KifiyaCheck reduces the risk of duplicate, reused, or invalid receipts being accepted, but cannot guarantee that every fraudulent attempt will be caught, or that every "verified" result reflects a transaction that will ultimately clear or settle on the provider's side. The decision to accept a payment and release goods or services is always yours.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that the Service will always be available, secure, or free of defects.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, KifiyaCheck and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of revenue, profits, or data, arising from your use of - or inability to use - the Service. This includes, without limitation, losses caused by a bank or telecom provider blocking, restricting, or changing access to their receipt-verification systems (Section 8), a customer's payment failing to settle after being shown as "verified," or a merchant releasing goods or services based on a verification result. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold KifiyaCheck harmless from any claim, loss, or damage (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or a transaction you accepted based on a verification result.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we'll make reasonable efforts to notify you in-app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
